Artificial Intelligence and Our Humanity

Artificial Intelligence and Our Humanity

We hear and read about it everywhere nowadays.

We have to give way to technologies.

We'll be much better off and live better lives (not even work) when we allow AI take action.

Yes, technology is here, and we live in the dawn of the age of AI, and it is a subject that we have heard and seen a lot more about this year.

I wonder exactly what the chances will be for the normal individual. You know, the individual who's not the founder of Facebook, Google or Amazon, which have placed such high barriers to entry it will be rare for companies to break into that stratospheric league.

What's Going to Happen with People?

Can you wonder what's going to happen to the average individual? AI is taking over customer service, writing, layout, sales, law, and medicine. As a freelancer and social entrepreneur, the truth is that if you're looking at things in a just bottom-line manner, using AI could make a whole lot of sense. They never get ill. They operate 27/7/365. They never cease and can indeed produce more than any human could --in a life. In a pure dollars and cents perspective, AI can earn a lot of sense.

But you must wonder about the wider implications of AI, and I sense that society hasn't even begun to get its head round the implications. Should you pay even a little attention to this news, then you understand that a couple of months past Facebook engineers shut down and pulled the plug on AI that decided on its own to go ahead and produce a new language. It had been more efficient for them to get the work done, but people didn't understand. It seems that the language was fundamental, but what happens if the AI hadn't been closed down? Could they've developed a highly sophisticated approach to communicate and operate that completely excised human?

I agree that technologies can be helpful to society. I believe most people would agree that we would prefer to send a bot into a dangerous situation, say war, rather than ask our men and women put their lives on the line. By way of example, the fact that we have begun to print human organs together with 3D is a significant improvement, and we must expect that lots of lives will be saved.

The Deeper Issues Related to AI

My concern, as I dig deeper into the problem of AI is what the consequences are for the human race, and yes, that includes how we at the sector connect with one another and with the planet we function. As I mentioned in the previous post I wrote, the Partnership on AI, which will be a collaborative effort between mega-companies like facebook, Apple, Google and leading non-profits like UNICEF and Human Rights is trying to direct the dialogue about the implications of AI at all our lives.

If you tune into even a little bit into the conversation about AI, you understand that We Must deal with several issues, including a number of the following:

Security: We don't wish to maintain a situation where AI is created, and it is not required to protect human life.

Transparency: We had the current situation with Facebook where they closed down AI, but who rules (business or government ) when someone says & Houston, we have a problem"?

Labor and the Economy: Whose responsibility is it to train individuals as AI develops and what will their job acts be in light of a much stronger AI spouse?

The reality seems to be seemingly developing that there aren't many places --if any--which AI will not touch.

Humanity's Competitive Advantage

When I read about problems associated with AI, I think of one thing--humanity. I believe we all have to get into the dialogue now about the implications of AI. I am somebody who likes and appreciates people just because we are imperfect. AI cannot enjoy, demonstrate courage, hope, vision, sense dread, etc..

In my head, these qualities are what makes people so much better than AI. Our values are our competitive advantage compared to AI. There's something intrinsic within people (some call it a soul or spirit, others relate the scientific dots of all of the elements which make up our brains, hearts, and bodies) which make us distinctive, and yes, actually exceptional.

We have a serious conversation that has to take place about AI, but it involves all people, and we have to pay attention before we've got a situation we did not bargain for at the age of technology.

The Path for Humanity as it Greets AI

In a lot of ways, I hope that AI starts to break down the things that divide us and that we discover that as humans, we're all exactly the same. We're. Take away the issues of money, race, faith, sex and what else; we all bleed red.

All of us hurt.

We all hope.

We all dream.

The way I see it, the time is for humankind. It could be our finest hours at the dawn of a new era --provided we all get out of our own manner and engage in a global conversation about humankind in the time of AI.
